CMMAS
Centro Mexicano para la Música y Artes Sonoras (Mexican Centre for Music and Sonic Art; CMMAS by its initials in Spanish)

Created since September 2006, by initiative of the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (National Council for Culture and Arts; CONACULTA by its initials in Spanish); through the Centro Nacional de las Artes (National Arts Centre; CENART by its initials in Spanish) and the Michoacan Culture Secretariat.

CMMAS is an avant-garde project for music and technology unique in Latin-America.

MISSION
Having Morelia, Michoacan as a host city, CMMAS offers the necessary infrastructure and personnel needed to carry out activities to encourage professional training, research, creativity, production and promotion of music and arts that include sound as a prime element.

Our mission is to foster the development of music and sound art in Mexico.
CMMAS is constituted by a group of internationally renowned specialists and is supported by its Academic Committee. This board unites some of the most outstanding national and international personalities in the field of new technology for music composition

VISION
CMMAS has high expectations to become the main field in Latin America for creative activity, reflection and specialized learning of the different aspects of contemporary music, with or without new technologies; and to convert it into a link between Mexico and the rest of the world in everything related to music and sound art thus promoting the cultural development within its community.
