1. Professional training
To prepare specialized professionals in sound art and contemporary music through its Masters’ Degree programmes, courses and seminars; workshops, curricular subjects, master lectures, discussion boards, symposiums and graduate courses.

2. Promotion of Music and Sound Art.
To spread the most innovative manifestations both national and international in music and sound art through festivals, concerts, recordings and other projects.

By doing so, we attempt that the international artistic production in Mexico as well as the national production abroad is known.

3. Encouraging creation
Through its programmes CMMAS offers the infrastructure and necessary resources to musicians and artists in different disciplines that use sound as raw material in their compositions. They may carry out their experimental creative projects, research, multidisciplinary and non-conventional works in a comprehensive way.
CMMAS is the place where high quality non-conventional projects have a space of their own to grow and to advance. Experimentation and research are fostered with no need to culminate in a finished tangible product.

4. Research
CMMAS is a place where the theoretical research on sound art and music as a whole find the ideal space to be carried out. This is the reason why CMMAS is linked to permanent research investigations in subjects such as interpreting, new technologies, creativity and analysis among others.

5. Production
In the Centre we have the ability to carry out creative projects of great quality. These works are finished products such as compact discs, audiovisual presentations, publications, symposiums and conferences. We also arrange the activities needed to make them known in public presentations.
