Studies of Unified Structures in Sound, Weaving, and Creative Computation - Charles Harding (Canadá)

SUBS-23.png

Through collaborative experimentation, creative coder/composer Charles Harding and textile artist Emily Blair seek to design unified structures within the mediums of weaving, sound composition, and creative computation. This presentation will focus on the sound practices of Charles Harding within this particular collaboration, including a deep dive into two of their most recent experiments. One experiment, A Projection Project of Audio Driven Textiles in Motion, utilized computational patterns to enmesh the two mediums in a show of bleeps and blinks, revealing a deeper inner complexity. Another experiment explored sonification of woven textiles designed through translations of light data captured in Dec. 2020.

Charles Harding is an emerging sound maker living in Montreal, Canada and studying electroacoustic composition at Concordia University. Over the past several years he has had international opportunities to showcase projects and collaborations involving immersive and interactive audiovisual installations. His current focus spans various artistic disciplines including sound, video, creative coding, computer vision and, more recently, interdisciplinary collaborations with textile artist Emily Blair.
