Este concierto recorre las músicas encontradas, atesoradas, recreadas y escritas. Diego Macías Steiner es pianista, compositor, docente y editor nacido en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Es Profesor Superior de Piano, Diplomado Superior en Interpretación en Piano de Música Contemporánea y en la actualidad presenta su tesina en Composición con Nuevas Tecnologías. En Buenos Aires, dicta sus cátedras de Piano y de Repertorio para Piano Contemporáneo, y en distintos conservatorios y universidades de su país ha realizado clases abiertas, talleres y clases maestras. Además de dar conciertos en distintas salas de la Argentina, también lo hizo en ciudades europeas como Madrid, Acqui Terme, París y americanas como Lima, Toronto y Nueva York. Como compositor y editor publicó sus “VII Pequeños Estudios - a partir del lenguaje de las vanguardias del siglo XX” para piano y sus “VI Pequeños Estudios Electroacústicos - Imaginarios Sonoros” para audio y piano, libro que presenta en esta oportunidad. En el contexto de Visiones Sonoras proponemos una parte de nuestra última producción Panacea y otra de una sesión en vivo de “Sesiones bang” producida por la revista Bang con la dirección de Vladimir Pérez en el año 2017: < Back Ir al final | go to botom RaBeat (Bolivia) En el contexto de Visiones Sonoras proponemos una parte de nuestra última producción Panacea y otra de una sesión en vivo de “Sesiones bang” producida por la revista Bang con la dirección de Vladimir Pérez en el año 2017: Ra Beat es un proyecto de música electrónica que surgió hace poco más de 15 años, de la mano de Álvaro “Conejo” Arce. Durante ese lapso el proyecto consolida dos formatos, uno como DJ Ra Beat (Alvaro Arce) y otro como ensamble o banda denominada de la misma manera. La producción transita por diferentes facetas estilísticas con influencia de rock y de distintos géneros de la música electrónica. Actualmente Paco Aguilar y Óscar Kellemberger son los dos músicos que forman parte integral de este proyecto ya desde hace varios años. Fue entre estos tres músicos que en abril de 2020, se fue hilvanando la posibilidad de hacer un disco a distancia, en el contexto de estar aislados y encontrarse ubicados en distintas ciudades del país. Sin la posibilidad de continuar con las presentaciones y el trabajo en vivo, se dio de manera natural empezar un experimento de creación desde sus respectivos hogares. El proceso de composición comenzó en la parte más dura de la pandemia, durante la cuarentena rígida, fue un proceso de ida y vuelta de mandar ideas musicales que fueron tomando forma y que luego se convirtieron en el esqueleto de las actuales canciones. En este proceso inicial de composición participaron principalmente Oscar Kellemberger y Álvaro Arce, quienes trajeron a la mesa virtual la mayor parte de las ideas iniciales que luego recibieron aportes composicionales y de estructura por parte de Paco Aguilar. El siguiente paso fue una etapa de análisis y producción musical entre Aguilar y Arce, fueron meses de trabajo y grabaciones a distancia hasta lograr tener temas con una base sólida y un norte estilístico definido. Fue en esta etapa que se empezaron a plantear las colaboraciones, invitar a vocalistas para participar en algunos de los temas, nunca se pensó que cada canción terminaría teniendo un invitado distinto en la parte vocal, pero a raíz la pandemia, y la imposibilidad de juntarse, se dio de manera natural invitar a músicos amigos a q aporten no solo con la interpretación, si no con la composición de las melodías y letras de sus intervenciones. Cada canción tiene sonoridades y estilos muy particulares y cada invitado ha logrado plasmar su personalidad y sentido estético en cada una de ellas. Entre los músicos invitados se encuentran Christian Krauss, Auza, Daniel Abud, Imilla Kózmika, Laura Ede, David Roland, Dia Nalabi y Natalia Maldonado. Jose Carlos Auza es el músico y productor que estuvo, además de participar como cantante, a cargo de la mezcla, la producción adicional y los arreglos de orquesta de varios temas del álbum. Su trabajo y las ideas q aportó fueron claves para lograr la sonoridad final del disco. Adicionalmente, Marcelo Guerrero, Jorge Zamora y So Myung Jung participaron mezclando tres piezas. El mastering y toque final lo ha dado Marcelo Navía en Lado B Mastering. Alvaro Arce (Bolivia) Estudio en la escuela de música Simeón Roncal en Sucre. Músico, productor y compositor que inicia su carrera musical de manera profesional en 1993. Hasta la fecha fue miembro de varias agrupaciones importantes de rock, funk, hip hop y música fusión de Bolivia con las cuales edito numerosas placas discograficas. En el año 2003 inicia el proyecto de música electrónica y experimental Ra Beat con el cual edita 6 álbumes hasta la fecha. En el año 2015 profundizó sus estudios de síntesis sonora en el estudio La Siesta del Fauno en Buenos Aires. Oscar Kellemberger (Bolivia) Inició sus estudios en teclado de manera autodidacta el año 1990, formando parte de varias agrupaciones musicales del medio. Comienza sus estudios académicos en composición y dirección el año 2000, en la Carrera de Música de la Universidad Loyola, en la ciudad de La Paz. Durante éste periodo participa de varios eventos musicales estudiantiles como compositor, director e intérprete con distintos ensambles. El año 2004 inicia su carrera de docente universitario en la misma Universidad, actividad que continúa hasta la actualidad. Creador de numerosas piezas; ha desarrollado un repertorio propio con obras para los medios más diversos como la música coral, la electrónica, el multimedia, la música orquestal y otros no convencionales. Interpreta varios instrumentos, especializándose en los teclados y el uso de herramientas digitales. Dedicado a la investigación; su actividad académica, se centra en el estudio de las diferentes posibilidades que brindan las tecnologías actuales aplicadas a la creación musical. Ha trabajado como analista, transcriptor de archivos sonoros y técnico. Docente universitario de piano, teoría, composición y audio. Actualmente trabaja en el campo de la sonoterapia. Paco Aguilar (Bolivia) Estudió en el conservatorio nacional de música desde el año 1995 hasta el año 1999 egresado de la licenciatura de música a sus 19 años. Posteriormente estudio ingeniería de sonido y producción musical en la universidad Vicente Pérez Rosales de Santiago de Chile hasta el año 2005. En su Retorno a Bolivia participó como guitarrista en varias bandas entre ellas buscando a gozalvez krause y Rabbit banda con la que hasta el día de hoy sigue vigente. Paralelamente tienen actividad permanente como productor musical y compositor para música en audiovisuales así como producción multimedia y dirección artística. El proyecto unió a dos compositoras con sede en el Reino Unido con dos en México y durante el año, cada pareja recibió apoyo para explorar una nueva colaboración internacional y crear nuevas obras sonoras. Las parejas que colaboraron son: Freya Edmondes (UK) + Cutzi Hamid (MEX) y XEXA (UK) + Sarmen Almond (MEX). Las dos obras sonoras creadas como parte de este proyecto fueron copatrocinadas por todos los socios y se estrenarán como parte de un evento digital único. Las obras se compartirán a través de nuestros canales sociales, boletines y se alojarán de forma permanente en los sitios web de British Music Collection y CMMAS. Cutzi Hamid Sánchez (México) Cutzi es una compositora trans-disciplinaria, ingeniera en ruiditos, artista sonora y ejecutante centrada en la relación entre los sonidos de diferentes áreas. Estudiante de la UNAM ENES MORELIA en Música y Tecnología Artística, y egresada del Propedéutico en Contrabajo de la UMICH, así como de la EIAA Uruapan en guitarra. Ha participado como ponente en el encuentro Transferencias Aurales: 1er Encuentro Latinoamericano de Música y Tecnología con la conferencia "Oye, creo que hay un poco de originalidad en tu copia", y en convocatorias como el Flash ACT 2022 con el equipo Les Aterrades con el Proyecto Ensayo sobre la Lentitud resultando como el equipo ganador, así como en la convocatoria Digital Bridge del CMMAS y el Sound and Music Fest entre Inglaterra y México, y más recientemente fue seleccionada para la convocatoria Festival Universitat Welcome to Planet B en Austria, dando una conferencia al respecto en el Visiones Sonoras 18 organizado por el CMMAS. Freya Edmondes (Elvin Brandhi) (Gales) Elvin Brandhi is an improvising lyricist and beat producer instigating projects of improvised socio-aesthetic overflow expanding haphazardly with circus intent. The main body of her education takes shape via contextual shifts and collaborations, as alternative to institutional micro-mythological artistic specialisation and ladder climbing self-optimisation. Her practice involves performing wherever and whenever possible, composing audio-sonic essays, videos, sample-based beats and theatrical public hacking. She uses sound and image as an expansive gestural-emotive language transgressing intrinsic systemics and inherited syntactical etiquettes. Her performances are unyielding bursts of erupting animation where her caustic stream of consciousness cavorts with restless, glitched out heaviness. She currently has no base, expanding sonic mutation as a constantly morphing communicational code. XEXA (Portugal / São Tomé e Principe) XEXA, is a Portuguese multidisciplinary Afrofuturistic artist, with Sao Tome ancestry. She is based between London and Lisbon. A producer, singer and sound designer who has been illustrating new aesthetics and new paradigms of sound. Her work reflects the exploration of sounds, making a hybrid of traditional African rhythms with synthesisers, sound design and voice. She is represented by the Portuguese record label Principe Discos, since late 2021. Sarmen Almond (México) Mexican musician and voice performer. Intermedia artist and voice teacher trained on the Roy Hart tradition. Master of Sound Arts (Queen’s University Belfast). PhD arts INBA Sarmen uses the voice and its relationship with electronic media to create compositions and decomposition of the personality on stage. She’s constantly chasing a quest of the infinite vocal possibilities that the human body utters as instrument as well as the reflection of these sounds in physical and imaginary spaces. Almond makes use of resources of free improvisation, extended vocal techniques, programming and body work.- She has performed as composer and vocalist in Mexico, Aberdeen, London, Belfast, France, Seville, Edinburgh, Prague, Manchester, Falmouth, Sheffield, The Hague, Utrecht, York, Barcelona, Singapore, Canada, among others. Through shared listening activity and dialogue addressing the broad theme and current critical aspects of climate change, the artists co-create sonic documents: threads and traces of dialogue and attention to sound. This ecological and social project highlights the fragility of the bees' life. At the same time, the skyscrapers claim an intensive culture that will never touch the sky; on the other hand, the empty hives are amplified by sound sequences reminding us of the close link between nature, bees and humans. This double criticism is accompanied by empty and vibrating hives where the spectator can imagine his own fate in front of a recognized massacre. The sound sequences highlight the movements of the movements translated into data and transformed into sound; on the other side, the sound of the bees' wings and the life of the apiary remind us of the sweet song of the mellifers. Campbell's piece seeks to depict the physical, cognitive, and emotional chaos that snow geese experience during their migration process between the Arctic and the eastern seaboard of the United States. As part of this lecture, the artist will briefly discuss his master's research-creation work, the concept of his work and his creative process. Merlin Campbell is an audio.visual artist from Saint-Hyacinthe (Quebec, Canada). He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University and a D.E.S.S. in digital music from the University of Montreal. Campbell is currently pursuing his master's studies in composition and sound creation at the Faculty of Music of the University of Montreal under the supervision of Myriam Boucher. As an artist and researcher member of the OICRM, his research-creation works take the form of installations and performances. He is interested in monumental in situ audiovisual immersion as well as the physicality of sound, image and space. His works are essentially created to be broadcast in unconventional controlled environments and require the creation of multi-screen and multi-speaker devices that he conceptualizes according to the space where he broadcasts his work. In this talk, this elitist attitude will be challenged. It will be proposed that making music with real-world sounds, reflecting today’s sampling culture, offers a unique opportunity to connect with anyone’s lived experience. It is therefore proposed that art for art’s sake might be replaced by art for life’s sake. Taking this year’s theme into account, we are able to focus on current topics such as climate change and create powerful sonic experiences that are not only innovative, but also engaging and inclusive. Leigh Landy ( llandy.dmu.ac.uk ) holds a Research Chair at De Montfort University (Leicester, UK) where he directs the Music, Technology and Innovation – Institute for Sonic Creativity (MTI2). His scholarship is divided between creative and musicological work. His compositions, many of which are sample based, include several for video, dance and theatre and have been performed around the globe. His publications focus primarily on the studies of electroacoustic music. He is editor of “Organised Sound” (Cambridge) and author of eight books including “What’s the Matter with Today’s Experimental Music?”. “Understanding the Art of Sound Organization” (MIT Press) and “The Music of Sounds” (Routledge, 2012). He recently completed two books, “On the Music of Sounds and the Music of Things” with John Richards and “Experiencing Organised Sounds” which are being prepared for publication. He directs the ElectroAcoustic Resource Site (EARS) projects and is a founding director of the Electroacoustic Music Studies Network (EMS).
